✨ Explanation: RAW vs. FHD/HEVC and HD Channels
RAW means "raw" – an unprocessed file that is transmitted exactly as it is received from the satellite (SAT) or cable source. The picture quality is 100% identical to the original SAT or cable source. Thanks to RAW transmission, multiple audio tracks can also be provided if offered by the source.
SAT and Cable are two German sources of broadcast – satellite (SAT) and cable (Cable).
FHD/HEVC channels are transcoded. This means they are reduced in bitrate from the original SAT or cable source. As a result, the quality is roughly halved compared to RAW. Example: A RAW channel transmits at bitrates up to 25,000 Kbps – for FHD channels it's only about 3,000–6,000 Kbps.
HD channels transmit only in 720p resolution with a maximum bitrate of around 5,000 Kbps.
